  1. DrkFire666 Says:

    Some things never change.

  2. Bryan McCormack Says:

    Bring back “The Ten Doctors”!

  3. Bob790 Says:

    Like it.

If/When you finish the Ten Doctors, I’d like to see a full story based on these. (But I’d settle for something equally good :) )

  4. Quazar Says:

I like their authentic Roman haircuts. :3

I find it totally amusing how your entire fanbase as just been struck dumb with shock at this.

  5. Danny Buck Says:

Long time reader (well a month), first time writer. By the gods! Genius, like the cambridge latin course made flesh. Actually after all the badgering for requests from doctor who you might not want to hear this, but I would love to see any references to Quintus, Caecilius, Metella or even Salvius amongst this next great Opus. Also a doctor who cameo might be funny but a step too far.

  6. Rich Says:

    DrkFire666: Too true.

Bryan McCormack: Don’t worry, I’ll get back to it. In the meantime, try to enjoy this other comic that I also do.

Bob790: Yay! Thanks! I’m thinking this one will have more of a structure like YAFGC, a stock of characters with some stories, some standalone jokes. I will continue to do this one as well as “The 10 Doctors”. That is, until 10D is finished.

Quazar: Heheh, thanks! Yeah, well, I kinda pulled a fast one on many who figured this was a site for “The 10 Doctors” rather than a place for me to put up my non YAFGC comics. If I did more different ones, then I think this would be less of a shock. But there’s a part of me that wants to also get 10D moved along.

    DannyBuck: Thank you!
    Erm… Beg pardon?
Are they characters from “Fires of Pompeii”?
I suppose they *could* appear in this. *shrug* If I find myself needing a few characters in a pinch, I’ll consider it. But there’s a lot of other Roman and Roman related media for me to draw on as well. Like “A Funny Thing….” or Star Trek’s “Bread and Circuses” and zillions of others.

  7. Captain Chaotica Says:

Well, it hasn’t struck _me_ dumb, as you’ve already got other comics based in entirely other universes besides “The Ten Doctors”…including YAFGC, which is vaguely medievalish. This, being based off of Roman stuff, is just a _bit_ of a step further back in “history”… :P

Me, well, I like Roman stuff–for example, I very much enjoy the old BBC miniseries “I, Claudius”, which led me to read up on Roman history from the local library as well as enjoying the politicking antics of the Centauri on “Babylon 5″ more than I might’ve originally (they are VERY Romanesque), among other things (such as buying a Latin/English dictionary from a used bookstore down the street). So I say, this looks cool. Of course, as a very new member of “the fanbase” who hasn’t said much yet I don’t really count, I know, but I just thought I’d say it anyway.

Naturally I also would like to see another “Ten Doctors”, but after a surprising three in a _row_ (blink!) I’m fine with waiting a bit. I never saw this new thing as actually REPLACING it in any way, just, a new…possible slot? being _added_ to the lineup.
At any rate, it looks neat, and I’m enjoying the costumes, as well as how it has a modernish sense of humour while still sticking with Roman culture. Reminds me a smidge of “Hercules: The Animated Series” that way. (Which may be Disney, but is really sharp-edged _witty_.)

    Shutting up finally…

    …Notorious

  8. Refusenik1 Says:

Ahhh, Rich. The Cambridge Latin Course? This was a sequence of course books, fondly remembered from school days, featuring a central narrative arc with, perhaps, some of the epic sweep of YAFGC itself… starting out with this guy:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Caecilius

    See particularly under ‘Fictional’…

    Loving the work, btw.

  9. wulfae Says:

I loled at Gillius’ expression in the last panel. I anticipate the next panel would be him crossing his eyes and saying ‘Look at me, I’m Barrius. Nyah-Nyah-Nyah!’ while he imitates Barrius.

Or that could just be what I’d do. e____e Ah me.

  10. Danny Buck Says:

Sorry Mr Rich, they were in fires of Pompeii but before that they were from the cambridge latin course, which is how everyone in the Uk learnt latin. The later character Salvius is better, a real dodgy fellow with a crane, tried to kill King Cobidugnus, and in plotting involved in the Emperor. But again looking at the background, which looksreally interesting, then my comments arejust really pointless and I do apolagise. Back to the topic in hand, really great art and a real sense of Joie De Vivre that brings to life the characters.

  11. Hark Says:

    Rich can u plzz bring
    back The 10 Doctors?

  12. Rich Says:

Captain Chaotica: Your opinion matters as much as anyone else’s. Thanks for the feedback, glad you like it. I hope it will develop into something enjoyable!

wulfaea: You’re probably absolutely right! Heheheh

Danny Buck: No problem, Mr.Danny. Thanks for explaining it. As a Canadian, I wasn’t in on that particular in joke!

Hark: Don’t worry, Hark, I haven’ t stopped making “The 10 Doctors”. It’ll come back. In the meantime, however, instead of leaving a boring page unupdated until I make a new one, I’ve put up these other comic strips I drew.

  13. Leah Says:

OMG. AWESOME comedic timing! Like, I laughed a LOT.

  14. eleventhdr Says:

Something is terrible wrong here why have you so suddenly changed the whole srip like this without any warnings at all.

If you are going to do another strip you should make it quite clear why you are changing from the ten doctors to something ellse or do another whole different strip like you ahve on your other page on your original blog apge

to suddenly change form the ten doctors with no waring and or plot is flying in the face of danger.

This really makes no sense to do this.

With out saying so and or tying it in with the ten doctors which just might make some kind of sense but what is the point or plot of this house strip hmmm?

  15. guy_zap Says:

eleventhdr- Read the page befores description. And pay attention!

  16. eleventhdr Says:

I did that already and what does that mean then?

  17. Radge Says:

It means that Rich does other work besides the Ten Doctors, and is not your personal cartoonist, so just sit back and wait PATIENTLY for another page. You got three in the space of a few days, don’t act like a brat when he decides to do something different.

  18. eleventhdr Says:

Was not even thinking of that but just that it si kind of strange to go off on something completly different in the middle of something else!

Hmmm most odd that you might have interrupted it in that way.

was just saying what i thought about the radical change!?

  19. eleventhdr Says:

see it that way so sorry for the spellling
    !

  20. Rich Says:

    Leah: Yay! Thanks Leah!

eleventhdr: Sorry about the shocker there, ‘levy’. But this is my “Comics Blog”, not my “10 Doctors Blog”. You’ll see that before “The 10 Doctors” there were other comics in the archives. “24fps” and “Thursday 9-Reunion”. I need somewhere to post up my inspirations. I haven’t stopped doing “The 10 Doctors”, but the program only allows me to put up one comic at a time. As soon as I’ve done the next Doctor Who page, I’ll get that up to, but in the meantime I’ve drawn a few FVLMINATA comics and this is where I’m going to show them off. There is no way to warn you when this is going to happen.
I’d love to give all my comics their own webpage, but it just isn’t possible. Sorry about that.

guy_zap, Radge: Thanks for backing me up there, guys. I knew there’d probably be some backlash because of the radical change. Serves me right for not doing other comics more often, I guess.

  21. eleventhdr Says:

Yes yes was just kind of wondering what this all might be leading to.
it is just fiine if you want to go off i some other direction at some point in time and space.

Yeah we can wait and see when and where the doctor just might come back into it .

Which i am very sure he will be doing.

  22. Rich Says:

Ah, I think I see the source of the problem.
This isn’t part of the Doctor Who story at all. It’s a totally different story. With no TIme Lords.

The direction of which was simply the punchline.

  23. C. G. H Says:

hey, once u restart 10 docs, do a comic with peri, in the suit she wore in planet of fire, but remove the annoying elements of clothing ;)

  24. Dr. Bunsen Says:

I did a Latin course based on the “Ecce Romani” books.

The first page is etched in my mind for some reason.

“Ecce! In pictura est puella nomine Cornelia…..”

    Anyone else do “Ecce Romani”?

  25. Rob H Says:

I wish Rich was my personal cartoonist. If only I was rich! By which I mean I wish I had lots of money, not that I physically wish I was Rich the cartoonist. No pun intended.

I really love the distinctive style of drawing you have, Rich. I’d like to think I know it so well by now I’d spot it if I saw it anywhere else!

  26. James K Says:

I thought I might take a break when you stopped for a break from ‘The Ten Doctors’ but I feel that this is looking quite good! I read some stuff about the FVLMINATA back story and it all seems very interesting!

If this keeps heading in the right direction (which I am sure it will :D) I think I am going to enjoy this just as much as the ten doctors! Cheers Rich!

  27. Ana Says:

    “Hahahahahaa”
    “Jerk”

That made me laugh really hard. Thanks.

  28. Lily Knotwise Says:

That’s hilarious, I love it. XD Totally my style of comedy. :D “HAHAHAHAHAjerk.”
