The 10 Doctors - Page 92

The Master reveals two Earth space fighters he’s held in reserve, suggesting that he and the 3rd Doctor join the pilots in the upcoming battle with the Daleks.  The 5th Doctor agrees to go instead, and deliberately chooses the opposite ship to the one the Master offers.

  1. The Adventurer Says:

Good god, you’re chugging these out fast Rich.

  2. Nat Says:

Yet another fantastic two pages. Love the Master’s look on panel four.

Two pages? Whoo. I look over and, “Hey, two updates! …what?”

  3. James K Says:

Awesome as usual! Keep up the good work!

  4. Brian Says:

“There it goes– the frowny face! I remember that one!”

Ahem. Nicely done, Rich — two pages in quick succession, but with a suspenseful cut in the middle.

  5. karanadon Says:

w00t!! Another two pages, so close together!! YAY!!

Also, I love how one of the Earth fighters looks just like the Starbug from Red Dwarf…!! =D (was that intentional?)

  6. Lisa Says:

Woohoo! New pages! AND with Five no less. *hugs him*……………….*hugs Rich, too* For giving us this comic. ^^

  7. Rich Says:

The Adventurer: I got a lucky break and got these done together.

    Nat: Thank you!

    James K: Will try! Thanks!

    Brian: Heheheh.. *bows* thanks!

karanadon: Yay! Ugh. Red Dwarf. No, not intentional at all. It was meant to resemble the tech used for the Earth ships in the Pertwee era. Of course, as soon as you make it a lander and give it a round cockpit section… Was never a fan of Red Dwarf. Got the same comment when I did the same thing back in the Federation landing pit section of this comic as well.

Lisa: Hehe, you’re welcome and thank you!

  8. Ella Says:

Oh no! Five has cleverly not chosen the ship offered to him by the Master…but being an evil genius, the Master has no doubt anticipated his move! Watch out, Five!

Rich, the whole story is pure win. Thank you for sharing it with all of us!!

  9. Levanta T. Says:

Know what’d be cool? All the different Masters come, too.

  10. Kat-Klingon Says:

Oooo, two pages overnight! we must be in different time zones Rich — or you sure have a late bedtime yourself! I check this every night before i go to bed and these wern’t there last night.

The story is heating up again with trhe Doctors, but some of the companions haven’t been see in a while; so I’ll just hitch along for the ride, LOVEit!!!!!!!!!!

  11. phil scott Says:

    brilliant rich, well done

  12. Os Says:

The Master using the expression “wing man” … bwah ha ha! I suppose as Bruce (Eric Richards), he trawled American bars with the boys in the late 1990s.

And no. 5 gets some time in the sun(s): Excellent.

    Yours,

    Os.

  13. James Says:

What’s happened to all the companions and what did omega mean by them being converted.
    P.S. ;) brilliant comic :)

  14. Captain Shade Says:

As always, you make me wanna sing “Happy, Happy, Joy, Joy.”

  15. jim Says:

The 5th Doctor Will Perhaps be shot down by the Master

  16. Captain Gray Harkness Says:

Hi, im Gray, and weve found jak ;), so keep it up

  17. Sean Says:

Hmph. I still like Red Dwarf

Anyway, I like it when we get more pages than we expect. And good for the Fifth Doctor. People tend to underestimate him at times, I feel. I think he’s a bit more clever than his other selves at times.

  18. Renaissance Woman Says:

I’ve been reading for months now and I just can’t wait one day more to say MASTERPIECE. I love that you always have Three leaning over people and scowling at them.

The Sontaran in panel three… you know, I never thought about it before but when a Sontaran points, he also give the middle finger. I think the Doctor noticed.

  19. Leah Says:

Pff! Choosing the opposite ship from the one suggested…the Master will have expected THAT.
This is fantastic! I check every day and I am VERY glad there’s more again.

  20. Victor Says:

Rich, next time you should put a brief cameo of the Starship Enterprise in here :D

  21. salorgreeny Says:

I’m happy to see another two pages. I just lost all my bookmarks, so I had to use google to find this again. I have no idea what’s wrong with my computer, all the settings got reset and I even lost my iTunes list and the e-mail program lost my address. Good thing I still have my CDs. I’ll keep an eye out for more pages, I’ll need to bookmark it again.

  22. Kat-Klingon Says:

    Os
I think you mean Eric Roberts — he and Julia Roberts are siblings in RL.

I think Five can easy figure the Masrter has something else going on with the ships, he’s face the charactor, though in a different body plenty of times.

Excellent work Rich, now I’ll just settled dow to await the next page, if you average holds this time, in about two to three weeks.

  23. MarrowMan Says:

why is that Sontaran like 6 feet tall?

  24. Stef Says:

Yay! New comic! And Fivey’s in it! -huggles Five-

I squeed at his panels, especially the last one. He’s used to facing the Master, with more experience than Three, but is still a bit short sighred as he is the Doctor.

  25. Captain Shade Says:

Personally, I feel if there is any cameos to be done, it should be Rich himself.

  26. Lily Knotwise Says:

Oh, missed this one! Good freaking stuff.

MarrowMan: To answer your question, Rich designed his Sontarans based on the old series, since he started this comic quite a while before the new Sontarans aired. And it would be silly to change them halfway through the comic. It doesn’t really matter though, they’re still accurate, if you’re looking at the old series.

  27. CptnSuz Says:

    Woohoo! More comics! Thanks, Rich!

Though, I was a little confused by the Master’s “You and me, side-by-side, just like old days” line. Is this more Pertwee era stuff that I’m missing? Anybody have an explanation? Thanks :-)

  28. Captain Shade Says:

Though, the original Sontaran from the Pertwee episode “Time Warrior” was short. And stood about the same height as Sarah Jane Smith. Even the 3rd Doctor refered to Sontarans as being a small race.

And a bit of trivia…Kevin Lindsay Who played Commander Linx in that episode, played both Sontarans (Field Major Styre, and The Marshal) later in the Tom Baker story “The Sontaran Experiment”. As well as Cho-Je, in the Pertwee to Baker regeneration story “The Planet of the Spiders”.

  29. Rich Says:

Yeah, the Sontarans were shortish in the Pertwee and Baker episodes. They were huge in the Colin Baker episode. Then tiny in the Tennant episode. So, pick your favorite. *shrug* I went with an imposing, menacingly tall Sontaran. They’re clones, no reason why they can’t have engineered morphological differences.

  30. Kat-Klingon Says:

    CptnSuz

I believe The Master was refering to The Doctor’s pre-traveling days on Gallifrey — and thus his own pre-Master days. From the first it was known the two were once friends, this seems to give a — non-canonal– look back at those days.

Captain Shade has an idea! any place to give yourself a cameo Rich?

  31. Lily Knotwise Says:

Captain Shade: True, they weren’t exactly TALL, but I think it was intended that they’re like humans, but with a potatoe face. XD Also, whether this was incidental or not, many cartoons and comics have personalities and attributes in characters shown visually and in their design. Making this Sontaran tall gives the impression that he’s intimidating, powerful and important. So, good character design there.

And that’s really cool trivia, I didn’t know that. But I KNEW I recognized his voice! I considered it could be the same person, but then I was like “naaahh…” But that’s really awesome and I’m kinda geeking out. XD

  32. Captain Shade Says:

Wasn’t saying yours was mad. In fact…The large clones could be a bit of an experiment, much like the Heavy Weapons Dalek

  33. Captain Shade Says:

    Ment bad, not mad

  34. Maureen MacDonald Says:

I love you. Just had to say it. You have got me so sucked in.

Hee hee. Because I’m, like, 12 years old at heart I can’t read panel 4 without thinking about Quentin Tarantino top gun gayness theory.

  35. Amayirot Akago Says:

Discovered this yesterday and been reading it non-stop since then; so far it’s been nothing short of BRILLIANT. Keep it up!

  36. ClockKing Says:

    Yah pertwee and davison!

  37. Sarah Says:

I love how you gave Five boot-button eyes so he looks rather like Tintin.

  38. Dr. Bunsen Says:

It’s great that the Master never stops grinning.
And I see that you’ve brought in the Fifth’s willingness to sacrifice himself.

(ref. “Caves of Androzani” and also “Cold Fusion”, a BBC Fifth Doctor novel)

  39. ch1ps Says:

Hooray! (again) I check this webpage expecting no updates and what do i see? Not one, but two! (Hmm, and that just happened to rhyme with the song i’m listening to…) The Master remains innocently evil, lol! Ah, but what if the 5th Doctor just fell into the trap by taking the opposite ship? Aah! We’ll have to wait and see, won’t we? :-)

I would’ve replied earlier, but my internet got cut off :-(

  40. George Says:

Oh, so exciting, ya’ll! Thanks, Rich, keep ‘em coming.

I doubt that Three would agree to Five taking his place, right off the bat. He was always so agreeably argumentative. Nonetheless I can quite see him agreeing to Five’s imposition, and for the reason that Five has had more experience with the Master, and therefore less reason to trust him. Five’s stated reason for going rather than Three is nonsense (to me). The Master proposed in the previous panel that only one Doctor would go (so the other would stay, presumably - so what difference if Three goes or Five?). And Three’s got quite a thoughtful look on his face in panel five. So I guess he worked all that out!

  41. Hark Says:

Rich i have one thing to say:

    FanTAStic!!

  42. Rich Says:

George: Yeah, reading back I see that the 5th Doctor’s argument for taking the 3rd’s place in the fighter isn’t very clear. What he means is: If the 3rd Doctor got shot down, the 5th Doctor’s very existance would be threatened, temporally speaking. Whereas the 5th Doctor getting shot out of the sky would be tragic, but not paradoxically dangerous to the 3rd Doctor.

  43. Kevin Wilson Says:

Well, it’s taken me three days to read every page and I must say this would make for an interesting live action series.

Someone needs to volunteer to colourise it all.

  44. Heather Says:

    Sqweeeeee!

I have to say, the tall Sontaran is a bit strange-looking to me. They’re supposed to be from a high-gravity world and are therefore short and stocky. But hey, artistic interpretation and all that. It’s kind of like the heights of the various Doctors - they may not have bearing in reality when compared to the actors’ heights, but are more to illustrate the impression of who seems more imposing.

I can’t believe Five fell for the “I’ll suggest this so you’ll do the opposite” ploy of the Master, though. Surely Five must have something up his sleeve, to make the Master think he’s fallen for the trick.

  45. wulfae Says:

The game that the Master is playing with Five is one of those ‘I know he knows that I know that he knows that I know’ kind of ones. The Master could have offered the one spaceship, knowing that Five would chose the other. But if Five knows that ploy, then he’d chose the space ship that the master offered, which means that the Master would have to have done something to both.

I’m thinking there’s an additonal circuit in both so that the Master can take remote control of whichever one Five gets into with that handy gadget in his pocket.

(Never challenge a Sicilian when DEATH is on the line!!)

  46. George Says:

Ah. Yes, I see, Rich! That would be a sticky wicket. Carry on.

  47. George Says:

(Edit) This contretemps between the Doctor(s) and the Master is shaping up as a classic “Princess Bride” psych-out, innit?

  48. J12 Says:

Wow this whole thing is great. ican’t wait to see what happens next.

  49. Joshua Says:

    *GASP*

Doctor, you’re smarter than to just take the ship NOT offered by the Master! I sense a plot twist!

  50. Zidel333 Says:

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!

My Ten Doctors fix has been temporarily assailed. :P

  51. she_who_filks Says:

Oh, wow! Wow, wow, wow! The muse is striking me with thunderbolts! And Rich-you’re responsible! I’ve spent the past four days reading this Dr Who comic (only found it on Sat), then I did some other onsite reading (since I didn’t know w-oh-no, spoilers now-since I didn’t know about you or what else you were doing that I might want to read too), and then I saw a certain Dr Who episode. And-thunderbolts! What a plot! Can I write it? Dare I write it? I’m a writer (as well as a filker), and that’s what writers do-they plot! Cackle manically. (Redheads are good at that.)
Okay, now I’m going off to plot. Will post at the appropriate time. No spoilers you know.
Giggle-snort-cackle. No, I am not insane. Don’t listen to those rumors.

  52. schlechter_wolf Says:

    Woo Hoo!!!

    2 updates. Rich, you’re spoiling us :-))))))))))

  53. PhantomDrummer Says:

    Dun Dun Dunnnn!

What was it the Doctor Number 6 said? A double-double cross, gets more interesting by the minute!

    True that! Carry on, Rich!

  54. Cpt G. Harkness Says:

its Gray, and Rich, how do u do it?

  55. Cpt G. Harkness Says:

and is the ship in f1 and f6 designed after the star wars imperial passenger t14

  56. Hitbob Says:

as usual my bye bye vanishes, it is just rich being to scared hes gonna lose the few visitors hes got, compared to my 1908 comments per day. rich, this is poo, dont delete this post, but look at my webcomic. thnx

  57. Gaz Says:

Great pages! The detail is awesome!

Hitbob: You’re doing it again. Noasting about things you are rubbish at.

Ignore him, Rich. Keep up the fantastic work!

  58. Turnip Says:

I love the Master’s sneaky face. He practically radiates dastardly plotage in panel seven.
You /know/ he’s got somethin’ cookin’ in that evil little goatee-ed head of his.

  59. Laura Says:

Awesome! I can’t wait for more. Each time more gets put up I’m on the edge of my seat again!

OH NOes! Watch out Fivey! I would hate for my favorite Doctor to die, but at least then 1-4 are okay. Except that you have 1 in trouble as well. :( Now I’m worried for all of them.

  60. herk Says:

*Two new pages two new pages two new pages* (still jumping up and down)

Ohh I love that face of the Master, when he’s telling the Doc ‘Just like in the old days’ (do I see a bit of flirting there?)

And I’m looking forward to see Five and him in a battle of wits :)

One minor critique: In panel 2 there is one s to many it should be leader leads or leaders lead.

Just thought I’d point it out - smart-ass me ;)

Keep up the great work, Rich.

  61. JustAWanderer Says:

First Four, then One, now Five …
I have this strange feeling that one by one, each Doctor is going to face mortal peril. (But then, it would hardly be Doctor Who if they didn’t!)

  62. Tarashia Says:

    Yay! Two pages at once!
    (and it has Five…)

Panel 8 is made of win.

  63. Purrrple Says:

Oh my, lovely birthday present. Now, let’s see if you can find a way to fit Donna and Jenny into this, since you’ve jampacked damn near everyone else.

  64. Dusk Says:

Wait, you’ve stolen a couple of ships from starwars and remodelled them…. nice!!!! hahaha awesome, loving it.

  65. Sammie Jayne Says:
