The 10 Doctors - Page 89

The 3rd and 5th Doctors protest when they discover that the Federation fleet is going to engage the two Dalek forces over 21st Century Earth.  The Master, however, has already tricked them into agreeing to the plan.

    More! You’re spoiling me Rich! (Not that I’m complaining - it’s wonderful!).

    You have utterly captured 3 and 5’s expressions perfectly. I am particularly fond of panel 6 - reminds me of Delgado and Pertwee facing off, one a clear foot above the other.

  2. Rich Says:

    Yup! It’s all for you, mamfidd! Heheheheh.
    Thank you!
    Do you mean panel 5? Panel 6 has the 5th Doctor in it too.

  3. Kelly Says:

    Awesome, an update! I love your rendition of the 5th Doctor, you really have his face and expressions down pat. And the Master is just very full of win here. Check out that evil smirk!

  4. Rich Says:

    Hehehe… Thanks! While Tom Baker was always my first favorite, I started drawing Peter Davison early as he’s probably the easiest one to draw.

  5. Phantom Drummer Says:

    Oh yes panel six, that self-indulgent smirk on the Master’s face…brilliant.

    And good observation, how in the 21st century people know all about aliens. At least in London =)

    Thank’ee kindly, Rich!

  6. Jake Says:

    More excellence. I like 5 asserting himself over 3, showing that he is the older, more experienced person even if he doesn’t look it.

  7. KelinciHutan Says:

    “Don’t waste our breath.” LOL. As I commented recently, this fandom makes one question the fundamental underpinnings of the personal pronoun. :)

    In any case, wonderful as usual. And can I just say, Five’s celery is always so cute the way you draw it. The eyes everyone’s said are great, but that celery just makes me smile every time.

  8. Sean Says:

    The Master is drawn rather interestingly in the fourth panel. He’s got a big forehead in this incarantion!

  9. wulfae Says:

    I clicked the bookmark to check the page, thinking to myself that there wouldn’t be a new one yet. And there was!! It gives me hope. ;)

    Is it wrong that I’m hoping the small fighters have something to do with x-wings? Fandoms crash!

  10. Lissa Says:

    Woo! New comic!

    “Don’t waste our breath.” *snicker* Cute.

  11. TehCracker Says:

    Oh, beautifully done. 5 and 3 are just so well done and their expressions are excellent. The Master too, he’s a wonderful combination of Delgado and Ainley, appearance wise.

    Thank you for another wonderful page.

  12. Captain Shade Says:

    Huzzah!!! The Gorpo strikes again. And so soon. Well done as always. Hope you didn’t push yourself too hard.

  13. Evie Says:

    Great job on the expressions. I can almost hear Three’s indignant scolding and Five’s patient acceptance of the situation. And I must agree with “Don’t waste our breath” being one of the best Doctor-pronouns yet. :D

  14. mamfidd Says:

    Rich@ 8.52pm: Aww *blush* Now that’s what I call flattery.

    Um, yes. Oops. (Ah well, what is the interwebs for but to thoroughly embarrass oneself…!)

  15. Dr. Bunsen Says:

    I like the direction here of Five and Three being seemigly outmanouvered by the Master - I imagine that Six, or Seven, say, would be tougher to manipulate in this way. I wonder if the two ’straight-laced’ Doctors can turn the tables?

  16. Dr. Bunsen Says:

    Sorry to multipost, but I also note that the atmosphere of cosy chumminess between the Master and the Doctor(s) has suddenly evaporated (panel 4 onwards)…. beneath the veneer of urbanity, the Master is unbalanced, brilliant, and very very dangerous.

  17. herk Says:

    Ahh you changed the subplots!!!

    First me: I MISS JAMIE!
    Second me: BUT third AND fifth Doctor.
    First me: (wails) ROMANA
    Second me: MASTER :)
    First me: K9 *sniff*
    Second me: Space fleet!

    Uhmm OK it seems the Master watches Torchwood (the 21st century is when everything changes…)
    and therefore knows more about the humans potential for danger.
    Great page Rich :)

    Third me (insecure small voice) : Nine?

  18. ch1ps Says:

    aww! the fifth Doctor looks so cute in the 6th panel! Well, maybe not cute, but i like the way he’s portrayed in the 6th panel. :-D

    “Torchwood. Outside the government beyond the police. Hunting down alien life on Earth and arming the human race against the future. The 21st century is when everything changes. And you’ve got to be ready.”

    Yeah, for global warming, rising petrol prices, alien invasions…lol! :-D (And yes I did memorise the phrase after watching Torchwood, lol)

    Ooh, yes. We ought to get the Master to meet his new persona (not suggesting you add him in unless you’re already planning to anyway, Rich). What would he think I wonder…

    When can we see the other Doctors? I want to know how the rest are doing. No rush, Rich. :-) Your comic’s as fantastic as ever! I really wasn’t expecting a page so quickly! :-)

  19. Megalomaniac Says:

    Goddess, but I am enjoying your portrayal of the Master. While I like both Five and Three, it’s definitely him who’s taken over centre stage in this page. :D

  20. Heather Says:

    Ooh, another new Ten Doctors - my cup runneth over! :) You’ve certainly captured the likenesses of Pertwee and Davison extremely well, and I get the impression that they’re coming easier to you as time passes and you draw them more often. What really gets me is the way you’ve captured not just their facial expression but their mannerisms. Conveying mood simply by posture is difficult in a drawing, when you’ve also got to worry about perspective and proportion - but not only do they look realistic, they look i>real. Reading this comic, I forget that they’re a few pencil lines scanned into a computer. They feel real and alive to me.

    And the story is kick-arse, too. :)

  21. karanadon Says:

    Ooh!! Another page already!! How exciting!!

    Also, I love how you’re holding back on whatever’s happened to Four, strangely..although, mind you, Five doesn’t seem too cosmic-angst affected, so it must be ok…?

    Also, Rich, I’m intrigued to know: what are your thoughts on Catherine Tate so far?

  22. Other Chris Says:

    I was wondering when we’d get back to the Doctor’s various storylines! 5 and 3 really are one of the best odd couples this side of 9 and 10. And you pull it off so well. And the Master is back! Brilliant! Now, is there going to be another surprise at the strategy meeting…?

    I don’t know if you want to hear this, but I’ve kinda composed a wish list of things that would really be fun to see in this comic:
    Ood. Lethbridge-Stewart. The Missing Reneneration. The Parellel Universe. The Guardian of Forever (Hey, a guy can dream, can’t he?)

  23. Stef Says:

    Hooray! Fivey’s fine, so Four must be alright!

    Please? Five and Ten are my favourites, then Eight and Four. The Ten Doctors is perhaps the best Doctor Who fan comic ever.

    I also quite like this page; Three arguing with the Master, Five’s “Don’t waste our breath” and the Master’s secret plot. I can’t wait until it’s updated again! It’s almost as big a squee as watching it on Saturday.

  24. JustAWanderer Says:

    Our little planet may indeed be growing up, but it seems like when the dust settles, the aliens are still usually written off as a hoax. (For example, Aliens of London/WWIII.) A huge three-way space battle could break out right over our heads and we probably won’t even notice.

  25. ClockKing Says:

    YAH its Jon Pertwee and Peter Davison! Thanks Rich!You portray jon and peter so well!!!!!And the master is the master,this is great!!!!

  26. Macfadyan Says:

    Ok, expect a BIG plug in the next Doctor Who Online Whocast - you’ve earnt it matey :)

  27. The Other Jim Says:

    Yay, other one!
    Daleks vs. the Master, round… three? This should be good.

  28. Ben Says:

    Looks like the Master’s pulled a fast one on Three and Five, I see. Here’s hoping they catch on quick.

    In the meantime, I’m starting to wonder what the Doctors would look like if they suddenly exchanged wardrobes? (4 in 9’s outfit, 7 in 5’s, etc. etc.) I got the idea from an earlier image of 2 wearing 7’s hat. It would make for a surreal scenario, at the very least.

  29. Kitti Kat Says:

    New pages!!! I was begining to wonder if we’d see these 2 again! Great updates! Thanks tons!!!

  30. Hitbob Says:

    hey! i think my requested update ratio has changed. TELL ME THE NEW ONE

  31. Sailorgreeny Says:

    Great as always Rich ;). I also like the “Don’t waste our breath” line. I’m happy to see Three and Five again.

  32. Captain Shade Says:

    All though…It just accured to me…3 reminds me of Robert Preston…Almost expect him to start singing 76 Trombones.

    Nice to see the 3rd and 5th Doctors in action once again and neat to see them sparring against the Master, which makes it a good page. I do have a question and something of a concern, Rich, with all this fighting around Earth. With two Dalek factions slugging it out in Earth’s orbit and with the spector of an alliance of groups opposed to them fighting them above Earth, might it interfere with the set-up to the Dalek Invasion of Earth. Though it doesn’t occur until the 22nd Century and lasts from 2157 to 2167, one gets the feeling in that serial that humans weren’t really aware of the Daleks until the actual attack. With all this fighting involving the Daleks just outside of Earth in the 21st Century, it makes it hard to believe that humans would be rather ignorant of the Daleks when they strike the following century. Considering the importance the Dalek Invasion of Earth has in the Doctor’s history and what results from it, tampering with it’s set-up could result in a paradox regarding what we know as the fate of Susan Foreman.

  34. Rich Says:

    Phantom Drummer: No problemo and thank you!

    Jake: It’s weird trying to figure out which ones are older, isnt it?

    KelinciHutan: They had a lot of fun with that joke in “The Two Doctors”.Thanks! The celeri makes you laugh, eh? Heheheh…

    Sean: Yeah, he’s got baby proportions for some reason there.

    wulfae: Yay! X-WIngs, eh? Well, I admit that I’m inspired by the dogfights of Star Wars, but I will not crossover the universes in THIS comic.

    Lissa: Yay! Heh, thanks.

    TehCracker: Thank you!

    Evie: Hehehe, yeah, I hear them in my head.

    mamfridd: *pats mamfidd* It happens.

    Dr.Bunsen: Wee shall seee
    Dr.Bunsen: He is a slippery eel.

    herk: Hehehehe, sorry. But the faster they change, the quicker they come back around.
    The Torchwood thing is just a coincidence. I’ve only seen the first one or two episodes.
    Yes. The 9th Doctor… you’ll have to wait and see.

    ch1ps: Hehehe, he’s very cartoony. You just have to keep reading to see all the others. Eventually.

    Megalomaniac: He deserves a little limelight. *nods*

    Heather: It doth!
    Thanks! Practice does make it easier.
    Thank you so much!

    karanadon: They are coming fast now, aren’t they?
    Of what little I’ve seen so far (Just caught the first two episodes), I like her!

    Other Chris: I don’t mind listening to your wish list. But I mostly already know what I’m going to do. So it’s just for interest’s sake, really.
    Ood. *shrugs* We’ll see. They’re low down on a loooong list of alien monsters that haven’t (yet) shown up.
    Lethbridge-Stewart: Yeah I know! It ain’t Doctor Who without the Brig. I haven’t forgotten him. Promise.
    The Missing Regeneration: Um. I don’t know what that means, I’m afraid.
    The Parallel Universe: Which one, specifically? Rose’s? The one from “Inferno” (assuming they’re not one and the same).
    The Guardian of Forever??? Yeah, dream on, pal. I decided not to do crossovers this time. That’s for later.

    Stef: Time is in flux! It means nothing! Hehehe Awwww.. how sweet! Thanks!

    JustAWanderer: It’s true. But the Master’s point still stands.

    ClocKing: Thank you!

    Macfadyan: OOoooo! *awaits!* Let me know where I can hear it when it happens!

    The Other Jim: Heheheh, yeah, hope it turns out better than his last bout.

    Ben: That would be an interesting exercise. There’s footage of most of them in the costumes of the previous incarnations. But what about mixing them up a lot more? (There was the 7th Doctor’s changing scene where he dons everyone else’s outfits…)

    Kitti Kat: Thank you!

    HItbob: The new one?

    Sailorgreeny: Thanks! Heheheheh

    Stincpa Saehd: That would be… surreal.

    Kevin Stroik: Yeah, I know the episode well. Everytime the Doctor meets a future version of himself it’s a paradox. You’re just going to have to trust me on this.

  35. Mr Scirev Says:

    Rich: “trust me on this..” “trust me on this..”
    hmm… sounds familiar

    I noticed Peter Davison was at the Iron Man premiere! Great..great..

  36. Hitbob Says:

    since you updated it under the current ratio u need to add this and page 90 into the ratio, and thus it changes. everything changes! tommorwow is day one of my watch all doc who episodes marathon! and in 2 weeks its the end of days (;literaly, the sats) then its sleeper (sleeping i holidays) and adam (i beat up my neigbout adam while letting go of my sises hand’) and exit wounds ( i recover from the sats, while gray = trys to kill his sister - jack) lol

  37. Levanta T. Says:

    Scirev- He was? Now I actually want to see the movie.

    YES! Naïve was spelled with an umlaut. Why some people omit it, I don’t know.

    Ah, Five, always trying to make peace.

    I was wondering when we’d see the Doctor again.

    When do we see Nine? I miss Nine. Just finished all the episodes except one, which I don’t want to see (I hate Slitheen! So immature.)

    ~~~~
  38. Maureen MacDonald Says:
    Rich, the “missing regeneration” is the regeneration from 8 to 9 that we never saw on screen. Which would, admittedly, be quite hard to do in this comic because then you’d have two 9s running around threatening to go Bilanovich kablooy any second.
  39. Leah Says:
    Oh snap! I love the Master’s “I am SO clever” face. It’s fantabulous. I love how Three is getting all confrontational while Five is so resigned to it all. :D Facial expressions STILL magnificent.
  40. Beard Says:
    Well done. He’s all smirky at the two Doctors the Master’s had the biggest grudge matches with.
    There a reason he and the War Chief are dressed alike, though? Or just a concidence?
  41. Not Daniel Says:
    Just a question: hitbob IS writing in English, right? Then how come I can’t understand anything he says?
  42. Maureen MacDonald Says:
    He appears to be compairing his life schedual to the titles of Torchwood episodes. If it helps.
