The 10 Doctors - Page 80
The 7th Doctor fakes Davros out, tossing a “Galactic Missile” firecracker into his clamshell and slamming it closed. The Doctors, the Rani and Sabalom Glitz all make a break for it while the Daleks try to figure out their priorities. Save their emperor or capture the Doctor.
And I’ve got to get me a better pencil. This one’s too damn smudgey.

February 2nd, 2008 at 9:24 am
Very nice XD Cheeky pair those two are.
How embarrassing for Davros. Defeated by a firecracker.
February 2nd, 2008 at 9:40 am
Yay! I love those two together… this, and the last page, have been brilliant!
February 2nd, 2008 at 9:45 am
Oh Rich I love you (hiding from the wife)
This turns into a second Doctor/ seventh Doctor spin off
I love the panel, where the seventh Doctor has to reach up with his umbrella, to close Davros shell.
It reminded me a lot of the “Kasperle” especially since the umbrella looks like the fan the “Kasperle” uses to beat the crocodile-puppet up.
(The “Kasperle” is a special German puppet theater puppet something like Mr. Punch I think)
February 2nd, 2008 at 10:11 am
This page is absolutely priceless! :~D I have to agree - a spin-off is definitely required at some point!
February 2nd, 2008 at 10:42 am
ooh yes, i definatly agree, two and seven are wonderful! such glee eminiates through my whole body reading these last too pages, thrills my who senses to the bone
*Glee!*
February 2nd, 2008 at 10:48 am
Looks like you took someone’s suggestion about pulling down the lid on Davro’s pod. Now that the non-Dalek elements are running, what now?
February 2nd, 2008 at 10:50 am
Glee indeed! “When I say run”… ah.. good times.
I agree, a Two/Seven crossover should be done sometime, somewhere, by someone! It’s too perfect.
You know what, though? I don’t think that’s the end of Davros.
February 2nd, 2008 at 11:18 am
Seventh Doctor’s having a bit too much fun I think. Ooh, that’s gotta hurt!
True Doctor form, making it up as he/they go along. Funny how Seven carried a firecracker in his pocket, just like Two did when he and the Brig scared off that Yeti…great minds think alike!
Thanks Rich!
February 2nd, 2008 at 11:32 am
LOL Go 7!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! he remains my favorite! sorry 10 but ya just don’t quite match up yet!
February 2nd, 2008 at 12:40 pm
I love it! I knew Rich was just waiting for the right panal to have someone cap that dome on Davros
I thought he was going to break the vial and expose Davros to the disease, tho, missed the switch to a firecracker! (Tho firecrackers are actually just small bombs, so it could have devasting effects on our little mangled meglomaniac)
The four of them running from the Daleks - Rani, Glick ..um Glitz, Doctor and the Doctor - whatever shall the four of them come up with? I know Rani planned to betray the Daleks next and team up with the Doctor..but I dont think this was part of her brilliant scheme, lol
February 2nd, 2008 at 12:49 pm
YES! I CALLED IT!
I KNEW that would happen! Excellent!
February 2nd, 2008 at 1:32 pm
Hurray! Go Two and Seven!
February 2nd, 2008 at 2:47 pm
Brilliant. Oh man, I agree with everyone; Two and Seven are just about the best team ever! Heh. “Do what I’d do” indeed…
Hooray for confused Daleks.
February 2nd, 2008 at 3:01 pm
Heheheheeh!! I can just hear Two saying “When I say run, run”. ^^
February 2nd, 2008 at 3:03 pm
Personally, I’d have gone with a stink bomb rather than a firecracker. But hey, thet’s just me.
February 2nd, 2008 at 3:24 pm
Oooh, the ultimate Dalek conundrum. Good going Seven. And I know you’re getting this a lot during this arc, but GEEZ Two and Seven are SHORT!!!
February 2nd, 2008 at 3:45 pm
Hee, there is a new one today! ^___^
I’m glad two got to say his line. I laughed when Seven slammed the lid shut on Davros, and gave props to whoever called that before.
February 2nd, 2008 at 4:01 pm
Shouldn`t the firework be a “Galactic Glitter”?
February 2nd, 2008 at 4:31 pm
Rich, I think you just reached the high point of the comic. It’s going to be very hard to top that.
February 2nd, 2008 at 5:22 pm
I’ve just realized… if Glitz was on Terminus last time before we saw him again here, does that mean that this is also happening in Terminus? Or did he teleport? Umm…
By the way, good work, Rich.
February 2nd, 2008 at 6:03 pm
Anyways, what is happening to everyone else?? I’m curious to know how #9 and Drax gets into the picture again, how is #4 and #6 gonna get off that ship they’re on, is #1 going to catch up with #8, how are #3 and #5 gonna help the Master and the Warlord, and what is #10 up to? Then there’s the companions, all working together to figure out what is going on….? Ugh..just thinking about it all is making my head spin, but in a good way I suppose…
Good job Rich! Keep up the good work, and looking foward to more of the story!
February 2nd, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Hey everyone, check this! A panel from page 79 coloured by dr.Riconius!
http://drriconius.deviantart.com/art/For-Shame-76299540
Gorgeous stuff, Doc! Thank you!
February 2nd, 2008 at 10:08 pm
This is simply the most awesome thing I’ve ever read.
February 2nd, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Spiral: Yeah, but those suckers can hurt!
Jess: *bows* Thank you!
Herk: Hehehe… *blush* tut tut… I dunno about this ’spin off’ idea guys. Sooner or later you’re going to want spinoffs of the other incarnations as well and then I’ll just be doing this comic for EVER. I’ve got other fun stories to tell. But we’ll see.
That does sound similar to the ‘Punch & Judy’ thing. But I’ve never seen that all the way through and don’t know if I’d understand it if I did. I think that’s a fun comparison to make with the 7th Doctor, though.
Waterfall: Thanks! Um… spinoff, eh? Uh… we’ll see.
Geck: Woah.. dude. You okay?
Lila Kooks: Yeah, the problem with these pages going up one at a time is that sooner or later people will guess some of the jokes and story twists I’d planned to do anyway. I don’t take suggestions generally speaking. It’s fun to see what you think will happen, what you think SHOULD happen, and how often you’re right. But I really make an effort to ignore direct suggestions and just do what I think feels right for the story. I saw that in a review on someone’s webpage. It said something like “the artist seems to take some of the story direction from the readers comments…” But I really don’t. No offence to anyone here, but if you want to write one, go ahead. This one’s all in my brain already.
As for the ‘non-dalek elements running’… guess you’ll just have to keep reading! Wheee!
Kelly: HAHAHAHH! Direct extermination from the Daleks, cryogenic stasis, Movellan virus, Dalek trial, and narrowly avoiding getting blown up by the Hand of Omega… no I don’t think a firecracker in his eggcup is going to keep this villain down either.
Phantom Drummer: Hah! You pegged my injoke! Good on you! Final panel is a paraphrase from that scene in “The Five Doctors” Brig: What is it? 2nd Doctor: “A Galactic Missile!”
created4apurpose: The 7th Doctor had his moments. A 10th & 7th Doctor pairup would actually be pretty interesting. But there was something powerful and menacing and commanding about the tiny 7th Doctor that the 10th Doctor simply doesn’t have.
Mreen: You KNEW the Rani was planning to betray the Daleks? Interesting. What makes you say that?
Sean: Hehehh… good one!
Melanie: Yay!
Laura: Quoted from the 7th Doctor episode “Paradise Towers” Doctor:”We’d best do what I do in situations like these.” Guard: “What’s that?” Doctor: “RUN!”
Lisa: Heheh. That was one of his catchphrases. Peter Davison used it when the 5th Doctor was having a 2nd Doctor flashback in “Castrovalva”.
The Creeping Spleen: Yeah, that’d actually have been less violent. Probably would have been a better idea. Although, this does hark back to “The Five Doctors”.
Nick: I know! I don’t use a lot of reference when I draw these. I have a tiny photo of each that I occasionally refer to at my desk. But I use memory and impressions. And they both come across as a lot shorter than they are. To me, anyway. I have met Sylvester McCoy and he is tiny.
wulfae: Heheh…good call!
Brian McCormack: “Galactic Glitter”? Could be… I don’t know a lot about fireworks and it’s hard to hear exactly what Patrick Troughton is saying in that scene of “The Five Doctors” with all the roaring and hissing going on. If it is, oops. Thanks for the correction.
Jim: Hahha, thanks! I’ll consider that a challenge.
Kevin: Oh, yeah… I wasn’t explicit enough. He took the ship that he used to bring Mel to Terminus and left her there. So no, this is on Davros’ Imperial flagship near modern Earth. He’s been in league with the Rani for a short time, which is how he was able to get to modern Earth from distant future Terminus.
Lila Kooks: Tune in next page….
Outsdr: My goodness! Thank you! That’s quite a compliment!
February 2nd, 2008 at 11:00 pm
I didn’t know he was going to place a firecracker in Davros’ pod.
What I called was that I was thinking someone was going to yank the pod door shut. I THOUGHT it, but I didn’t think you’d actually DO it! Awesome! And good use of the umbrella.
I like the way Glitz and the Rani are drawn when the Second Doctor lets them in on the plan. There’s just something about how the Rani looks less menacing. And then there’s how 7 looks when he runs out the door!

I just came across this site from a link elsewhere and I’m hooked. I read the whole backstory in one night. I was so happy to see an update, and at the same time sad that it meant that another update would be a long(ish) way off.
I’ve got no suggestions because I’m sure they’re not nearly as interesting as what you have brewing in that odd little brain of yours. I’m really just here to pimp out the new (yet poor quality) Who Trailer at http://youtube.com/watch?v=L33XBnt_KZs Warning: a bit spoilery
February 3rd, 2008 at 1:54 am
Great, my avy is constipated.
February 3rd, 2008 at 2:42 am
Haha, my avy laughs at your avy in a very yokel-ish manner.
February 3rd, 2008 at 6:00 am
ahem, yes, im okay now thanks, *straightens tie, i just reject reality, in favor of any delight i can get from fandom, the more it fits in with what i grew up with, the more over joyed I get …..was that a bit long windied?
better watch some freakazoid
as always, thank you for being you, and bringing us this delightful story, to which causes me o reveal my ecstatic zeal and love of Doctor Who, and brings it bubbling to the surface, your a dead set legend mate.
February 3rd, 2008 at 10:27 am
Rich, this is the greatest pair of Doctors ! I’m almost feeling bad about wanting to see the others….
I’m starting to have fantasies about somebody animating your comic…
February 3rd, 2008 at 10:45 am
you will be ani-mat-ed, ani-mate, ANI-MATE ANI-MATE
February 3rd, 2008 at 2:24 pm
Haha GENIUS!
February 3rd, 2008 at 4:57 pm
What can I say? I’m staggered. Best pairing ever! Who needs companions? (hehe)
February 3rd, 2008 at 8:52 pm
DrkFire666 says “Who needs companions?”
I do! Despite a truely awesome Doctor pairing here (And for the record, Davison borrowed Two’s “When I say run” several times over the course of his tenure) I can’t wait to get back to Jamie! I know DW’s ‘male companions’ field is pretty small but Jamie still wins Best Male Companion in my book.
Besides all that, ’tis a brave man who can run around in an action-adventure role for three years wearing a kilt and pull it off.
February 3rd, 2008 at 9:55 pm
ACH! JAMIE!
For serious, if it weren’t for Evelyn Smythe, I think Jamie would be my favorite companion of all time. Serious. Best companion man. Or close enough to. Just all around fantastic.
Hmm…
Any chance of Evelyn showing up in the comic? She’s kind of a little bit of awesome. (Only one who could really keep up with Six.)
February 3rd, 2008 at 10:59 pm
Rich: How did I know that the Rani planned to betray the Daleks?
A (or 1
) She’s the Rani! Out manouvering and underhanded deals is what she does, the chess master of the double cross!
B (or 2) Page 79 she rather signifigantly tells the Doctor that she’d rather be on the winning side …exactly what does she win if the genocidal menaces wipe out the rest of the universe, and then she’s left, still not a dalek?
C or no… ii -the footnotes: She’s been in on the multiple Doctors scheme from the beginning, and she knows how frelled up Dalek’s plans (or anyone elses) become once the Doctor’s in the house, let alone two or ten at once! (or even two and seven, as the case may be
)! She may not have planned the events of this page, but she certainly was instrumental in introducing controlled chaos into the situation! (or…not so controlled, as she’s sure to find out!)
February 4th, 2008 at 1:30 am
awesome awesome awesome!!!
February 4th, 2008 at 5:43 am
Oh, man, it’s a crime we were denied on-screen interaction between the seventh and second Doctors. If only the Two Doctors had taken place during Season 24!
February 4th, 2008 at 7:04 am
The Manipulative Doctors pwn the universe. And yet, I’m certain that 7’s big moment is still yet to come, and it will be “something powerful and menacing and commanding” - exactly how I feel about him in Ghost Light, actually. Without “giving you ideas”, Rich ;), I’ll bet anything when 7 does so, 10 will have another “Time Crash Moment” and excitedly tell 7 how he learned about being an authoritative, ruthless bastard from him
February 4th, 2008 at 10:03 am
Laura: “Any chance of Evelyn showing up in the comic? She’s kind of a little bit of awesome. (Only one who could really keep up with Six.)”
Given that Rich has stated on numerous occasions that he’s taking only the TV shows as canon, I’d say that’s a definite ‘no’.
And given that many of the audio plays and whatnot aren’t even treated as canon by the producers, that’s even more of a ‘no’. I’ve heard Russell T Davies himself say that the only non-TV- show production he’s treating as canon is the 1996 movie. Personally, I’d have preferred it if he forgot the movie as well, but hey, you can’t have everything.
February 4th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
Hi Rich.
Someone posted about this on the forum for my podcast and I came here and just read everything in one sitting.
Oh My….how good is this…would so love to hold this in my hand in a published volume
February 4th, 2008 at 3:39 pm
Your art just gets better and better! I’m havoing so much fun watching you improve amost every page. Way to go, and keep it up!!
February 4th, 2008 at 3:48 pm
Oh now I gotta be a little nitpicky fan. One of the first things I always do when acquiring a new Doctor Who DVD is turn on the subtitles, so I can clarify any dialogue I just can’t quite make out on our taped episodes. And low and behold, the second Doctor called it a “galactic glitter.”
I’m such a huge geek. Any others in the audience, please raise your hands, or, sonic screwdrivers if you have them!
February 4th, 2008 at 7:20 pm
ahh Phantom, Phantom, Phantom…. well nice to know he actually says glitter
me personly i like a little bit of leeway, such is in the case of the opening song for Freakazoid, aparently he’s a ’super teen exrodinaire, but it always sounded to me like super dude extrodinaire, and i think it fits better :D, but thats just me *beam*
*raises his remote control for his Dalek*
February 4th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Actually my favorite was in “Warriors of the Deep” when the Doctor just goes quickly, “When I say run, run. Run!!”
February 5th, 2008 at 9:32 am
*raises her sonic screwdriver that she needs to go and buy a real screwdriver to put the batteries into*. And on which box it says that the batteries are to be inserted with the correct polarities. XD Sorry, three!
February 5th, 2008 at 2:23 pm
“*raises her sonic screwdriver that she needs to go and buy a real screwdriver to put the batteries into*. ”
Oh, so you noticed the irony there too? *Fishes sonic screwdriver out of the inside pocket of her trenchcoat.* I do love this thing.
“Given that Rich has stated on numerous occasions that he’s taking only the TV shows as canon, I’d say that’s a definite ‘no’. ”
Ah well. It was worth a shot. Man, I’d like to see some of the extra media brought into the actual series, if a bit sideways. C’mon, they’ve got the technology to do Frobisher…^_^
February 5th, 2008 at 2:43 pm
Thanks Gecks *waves!*

February 13th, 2008 at 4:22 pm
This is too awesome! When Doctor7 yanked the lid closed with the brolly, I instantly had Sylv McCoy’s electronic clap music running through my head. It doesn’t matter what name you give the firework; Doctor2 didn’t recognize it so it’d be right for him to inquire about it.
If I may make a tiny suggestion before you finalize the artwork: maybe frames 3 and 4 could be merged into one panoramic box; you could just draw a complete Dalek in the middle and it wouldn’t hurt the left-to-right reading flow.
After discovering this story today, I’ve been reading it straight through in one sitting and have been enjoying every minute of it!
February 13th, 2008 at 5:12 pm
There’s a bit of a geography problem with that…. but artistically it would work better. Thanks.
Don’t know if the artwork will ever get more ‘finalized’ than this. I haven’t been doing the inking and colouring myself. A reader did the first three pages.
April 2nd, 2008 at 1:38 am
I love your Two! You nailed his mannerisms perfectly. “When I say ‘run…’” XD
