The 10 Doctors - Page 79
The 2nd Doctor finally shows up, nabbing the Lazar’s Disease sample from Davros’ claw and tossing it to his future self. A bit of silly Doctorish banter follows with the two Doctors tossing the sample back and forth to confuse the Daleks. But Davros finally puts the squash down with a threat they cannot ignore. If the 2nd Doctor gets killed… what will happen to the 3rd through 10th???

January 28th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
It doesn’t come fast enough… Thank you for the enjoyment…
January 28th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
He lives! Yipee!
And Glitz and the Rani mysteriously vanish. Weird.
Wonderful update!
January 28th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
Nah, they’re just offscreen.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:12 pm
Fabulous! I can really see Two and Seven doing this. They should have their own cartoon when this is over.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:16 pm
You really have paired off the Doctors nicely!
January 28th, 2008 at 11:32 pm
Oh, that makes me chuckle. The only thing missing is the Second Doctor saying “Oops! Butterfingers!” But I’m not complaining!
January 28th, 2008 at 11:36 pm
Now THAT’S the “Two Doctors” that should have been…LOL
January 28th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
The sixth panel looks really funny comparing the Doctors’ height. If only that was colored.
January 28th, 2008 at 11:38 pm
I love how you’ve drawn Two’s face as he’s saying “For shame.” Perfection!
January 28th, 2008 at 11:52 pm
I love the 2nd Doctor’s face. “Ooops, prolly shouldn’t be shaking this guy’s hand then, should I?” Brilliant -can’t wait to see how they get out of this!
January 29th, 2008 at 12:40 am
Brilliant pairing.
January 29th, 2008 at 2:19 am
I agree Captain Shade, McCoy and Troughton would have been magic together
January 29th, 2008 at 2:51 am
Ooh! Lovely!
I’m absolutely loving this, Rich!
January 29th, 2008 at 3:37 am
oh marvelous, frabulous joy! this brought a grin to my face ten miles wide! ,simply love 2 just swooping in and the fabulous co-ordination! pure joy!!!!!
thank you, thank you, thank you! *BEAM!*
January 29th, 2008 at 4:47 am
I agree with Nea: Second and Seventh definitely need to share a webcomic when this is over.
January 29th, 2008 at 5:12 am
Good to see the 2nd doctor finally back up from getting shot…
Now we just need to wait to see what happened to, just about everyone else and their predicaments…
January 29th, 2008 at 6:13 am
Yeah for the second Doctor.
And I put my vote in for the Troughton/McCoy webcomic.
Oh this is defiitely so coool (Just how the second Doctor comes in and wants to introduce himself to the new guy because it’s the nice thing to do and it’s DAVROS :D)
January 29th, 2008 at 6:43 am
Lovely paring! And finally a good explanation for the Doctor’s brother story *grin*
Wonderful, can’t wait for the next part.
January 29th, 2008 at 7:44 am
Morning Rich.
Lovely banter between Two and Seven, I can totally see that little juggling scene happening
Another vote for a Two and seven spin -off.
Phe
January 29th, 2008 at 8:42 am
Great update! I love these two Doctors teaming up. Looking forward to what comes next!
January 29th, 2008 at 8:43 am
Every morning should start with laughter like this. That’s brilliant - pure Pat Troughton right there. It’s such a pity Troughton died right at the start of McCoy’s tenure as the Doctor. They’d definitely have made an excellent pairing onscreen.
Thanks, Rich, for giving us a taste of that magic here.
January 29th, 2008 at 9:20 am
That sixth panel is awesome, you got two’s likeness perfectly. Now we just need to invent a real time machine, so these two actors can actually work together!
January 29th, 2008 at 9:27 am
Yay I love being able to see a new page before work.
January 29th, 2008 at 10:04 am
Wonderful!! I love the interaction between Two and Seven and everyone is right — I could have soooo seen Pat Troughton doing something like that. I’d love to know how he got out of his prison cell, though…. sonic screwdriver perhaps? Aafter all, Two was the one who first invented it!
Perfect way to start the day, always look forward to more.
January 29th, 2008 at 10:37 am
Brilliant! What a perfect way to start the morning! 2 and 7 couldn’t be better! Hilarious! Thanks Rich!!!!
January 29th, 2008 at 11:33 am
Great stuff! Thanks!
January 29th, 2008 at 11:55 am
It may be a bit stupid, but this is all I have to say- LOL!
That and Two and Seven should have a spin-off together. It would be pwnsome.
I wanna see what everyone else is getting up to though, especially the companions. There’s still more to come.
January 29th, 2008 at 12:06 pm
If Two and Seven had a series of spin-off adventures together, would Two be Seven’s Companion, or would Seven be Two’s?
January 29th, 2008 at 12:21 pm
“For Shame.” Oh God that is the perfect thing to say, right there. Perfect. Perfect moment. Man, Seven and Two make a great comedic duo. They should be on stage, I daresay.
January 29th, 2008 at 1:05 pm
Yeah, I love how Two is all friendly to Davros until he finds out that he created the Daleks. “For shame” indeed!
January 29th, 2008 at 2:22 pm
OMIGOSH, so full of cool! Two, I’ve missed you! I absolutely love the little pass-around they do with the vial. Great expressions, as always. Especially that little “play along” glare Seven gives Two in panel 4.
Oh man. Reminding me immediantly of everything I love about Troughton.
Heheh. “For shame.” Lovely!
January 29th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Yes! 2’s back!
Davros shaking hands? Never thought I’d see that.
January 29th, 2008 at 2:57 pm
Good ol’ Two! Magic, absolutly magic! I’m continually astounded by how well you portray the various Doctors. It’s brilliant.
I also agree with Joe, could you imagine Patrick Troughton and Sylvester McCoy doing a turn on stage? I’d go and see them.
January 29th, 2008 at 3:11 pm
Sorry Rich. I seem to have started a snowball. But a 2/7 webcomic would be SOOOOOO kewl.
January 29th, 2008 at 3:56 pm
My friend started me on this comic to keep me busy between finishing series 2 and watching series 3. It was suppose to take a couple days but only took a night, so now I look forward to more. I get excited when I check my feed and there’s a new page.
thanks for the awesome work!
January 29th, 2008 at 4:21 pm
Ooooh, what an awesome conundrum… eliminate the second doctor and you throw every other one after him out of whack.. >.
January 29th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
let me repost since my message got cut off. dippy computer.
Ooooh, what an awesome conundrum… eliminate the second doctor and you throw every other one after him out of whack..
Love this comic, every single frikken frame of it!
January 29th, 2008 at 5:06 pm
lol! #2 can indeed pass for #7’s brother, which is kinda scary….and they do make a great team! lol! Them tossing that vial of the Lazar’s Disease around between the two of them is hilarious!
January 29th, 2008 at 5:34 pm
I keep expecting someone to sneak up behind Davros and snap his little pod thingy shut.
I like the way 2 is drawn in panel six. These two together just works!
January 29th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
It’s like… “Look at what you did. Look at that. You created a race of creatures responsible for billions of deaths throughout the history of the universe. Shame on you! No TV for you mister! And you can forget about dessert!”
January 30th, 2008 at 12:20 am
Two is the best ever. I love the game of keep-away. It’s so completely in-character for both of them!
January 30th, 2008 at 3:17 am
Two’s triumphant return!
*glee*
January 30th, 2008 at 6:15 am
so I gotta ask, how do people like joe, the captain, and other various people, have their own avatar in this place, i wouldn’t mind so much, but mine looks like a bellimic druggy
January 30th, 2008 at 7:14 am
geck: Gravatars
January 30th, 2008 at 9:29 am
Oh Joy - Second Doctor. Thank you!
January 30th, 2008 at 1:18 pm
A nice bit of Laurel and Hardy-esque business from Two and Seven there. Good work Rich.
January 30th, 2008 at 3:37 pm
Yes, Rich, I agree whole-heartedly with my fellow WHOligans; this is a lovely episode.
But about Glitz being an endearing character - now there I have to just-as-whole-heartedly disagree. I’ve never actually seen the Dr. Who episodes featuring the character, but I have no reason to think Rich is misrepresenting him; in fact, I’m always struck by how convincingly Rich portrays the canon characters (and others). So…what a despicable, amoral parasite Glitz is!
He’s your classic Neutral Evil (a little D&D reference); an egocentric scum, too glaringly self-interested to be even slightly charming. Good, evil, law, chaos - hey, whatever pays; Glitz doesn’t care! He compares poorly with *Davros* - who at least *has* ethical standards (!)
I don’t think Glitz has any redeeming features, except possibly for the joy he’ll create when I see him come to a very…sticky…end…and preferably sooner than later.
January 30th, 2008 at 3:40 pm
O joy! I’m a purple polygon with just…one…tooth
January 30th, 2008 at 3:50 pm
that is awesome! I can easily see Two and Seven doing that. And then acting like nothing happened. Ha, this is great.
January 30th, 2008 at 5:40 pm
Hah! But WE’VE seen the further adventures of the Second Doctor, so we KNOW he’ll survive! He’s fine.
January 30th, 2008 at 6:50 pm
Hillary: Thank you kindly *bows and curtsies all at once
im starting to wonder, how spectacularly delightful it would be to see a regular animated show, featuring two and seven! , that opens up a whole flood gate of fan based nerdy chills all up and down my spine! WOO!
January 31st, 2008 at 9:55 am
Louise - you’re both right and not right at the same time.
Yeah, Glitz is self-serving and amoral. But he’s kind of adorable at the same time. He doesn’t exactly fit into any classic D&D alignments - he’s more Chaotic Greedy (in fact, in much the same way that many PCs are in that game, whatever their stated alignment). Try checking out some Colin Baker and Sylvester McCoy and you’ll see more about what sort of character Glitz is. Rich has certainly caught him well here, but he’s also assuming that we all know his backstory - it’s worth your while to watch the eps to get that backstory.
January 31st, 2008 at 11:23 am
By the way, Rich, you captured the Troughton frown PERFECTLY.

#7 And #2 Throwing Lazars Disease
Pelase Smash Please Smash :Prays:
January 31st, 2008 at 5:18 pm
great!
Right now I imagined Sylv singing “He ain’t heavy, he’s my brother”!
January 31st, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Yeah, there’s nothing good about Glitz - but he’ll make you laugh. Not on purpose, but he’ll make you laugh
It’s not that he doesn’t like the Doctor or the Doctor’s companions, it’s just that he’ll never do the right thing, just what pays him more. His lack of morals makes him seem like a child that just doesnt know better, which is why Mel thought she needed to ride herd on him and make him behave, leaving the now weight/nutrition reformed Doctor for her new project. Anytime you catch him doing good, expect he’s found a way to be paid, or object to smuggle, and he’s hoping if he does this good deed, the Doctor wont catch on with what he’s carrying off with
But …we like him anyway. One of those characters that’s such a character, you can only love them in fiction. Davros, now, he may have a code of sorts, but he’s also an insane, genocidal and if the mood strikes, sadistic. Glitz would never bother with any of those faults, there’s no profit, and no jollies for him.
January 31st, 2008 at 11:58 pm
Heh. Joe england’s comment — “Look at what you did. Look at that. You created a race of creatures responsible for billions of deaths throughout the history of the universe. Shame on you! No TV for you mister! And you can forget about dessert!”” — reminds me of an old filksong, called “Never Set the Cat on Fire”. One verse goes:
“Don’t start an Interstellar war/it has no helpful uses;
When folks ask what you did it for/you’ll only make excuses;
If fifty trillion folks get hurt/you’ll go to be with no dessert;
So mind your manners/as circumstances may require;
and never set the cat on fire.”
This is, of course, apropos of absolutely nothing, but it does seem to synchronize nicely with the wonderful whimsy you’ve built into this strip. Please, please, please keep sailing under BBC Legal’s radar until you’ve finished this wonderful bit of fannish daydream.
And never set the cat on fire.
February 1st, 2008 at 8:22 am
Oh God, I’d forgotten that filk song - I used to have a tape of songs a friend of mine put together that was entirely cat-based, but it disappeared in one of my house moves many years ago. It had that one on it, and Feline American Princess, Scaredy Cats, Pride of Chanur, Nobody’s Green Eyes, and a host of others. Thanks for bringing back memories of those.
Another filk tape that’s gone missing is Hip Deep in Heroes - all songs based on Blake’s Seven. It seems impossible to get copies of that these days. *sigh*
February 1st, 2008 at 2:15 pm
Did you get Lukeski’s “I Need A Hiro” :p that was fun.
(Still havent listened to “It Takes A Who”, the Doctor Who song he did. Keep missing it when it airs)

Push Davros Out The Window
February 2nd, 2008 at 8:43 pm
‘Pologies for the late post, I was off line for nearly a month there, but…
On the subject of Seven on the stage, I just recently read a Death’s Head comic where he runs into Seven performing in panto…
I know you’re trying to stay in canon, but if that robot Bounty Hunter was to show up after all ten doctors get back together, it’d be way cool…
…And Lazar’s disease prevents re-generation? Nifty classical allusion there…
February 8th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
If 2 Is Shot Nothing Will Happen He’ll Just Regenerate And In This Timeline Galifrey Is Gone So He Could Just Keep On Regenerating Forever:BORING
February 14th, 2008 at 1:52 pm
Oh, 2 and 7 are great! Fast talk, clowning around, and fancy footwork abound. Also, I love 2 wearing 7’s hat.
April 8th, 2008 at 7:01 pm
I’m going to join to crowd of people saying that Two and Seven are indeed fantastic together. Also, “Oh… ahem. For shame.” Excellent.
