The 10 Doctors: Page 60
While snooping around the Cybercomplex under the warehouse, Sarah Jane Smith discovers the Rani’s TARDIS which opens up and emits black smoke and coughing passengers. She recognizes Tegan and Turlough (From “The Five Doctors”), but it is K9 who recognizes his former mistress, Romana.
How, you may ask, does he do that, exactly? Well, it is known that all the k9 units the Doctor made were based off the memories of the previous one. Since the timing of the spinoff show “K9 and Company” would indicate that the Doctor made SJ’s K9 after the events of “Warrior’s Gate”, (and that K9 mark IV in “School Reunion”-the one appearing in this comic- was based off of SJ’s mark III… somehow…), that it remembers everything we saw. It remembers Leela from mark I’s memory up to the time it left the TARDIS with her on Gallifrey (”The Invisible Enemy” to “The Invasion of Time”), Romana 1 & 2 from mark II’s memory up until the time it left the TARDIS with her in E-Space (”The Ribos Operation” to “Warrior’s Gate”), and all of the time mark III spent with Sarah Jane between “K9 & Company” up to “School Reunion”.

D’aww a reunion. Lovely.
Nice to see an update before I have to go out and do anything.
November 14th, 2007 at 10:14 am
Yay!!!! SJ!!!
November 14th, 2007 at 10:23 am
next plz
November 14th, 2007 at 10:23 am
Wait… I forget. What happened to Sarah Jane? What page was that on? It was so long ago!
November 14th, 2007 at 10:33 am
She’s just skulking about with K9 and discovering cybermen.
I used her naturl abillity to trip and stumble in EVERY EPISODE to make noises in the last strip to aler the Cybemen.

All the Doctor’s companions seem to have an inherent ability to be clumsy, annoying, impulsive, over-confidant, confused or (recently, sadly) in love with him.
November 14th, 2007 at 12:37 pm
K9’s first adventure was The Invisible Enemy, not The Enemy Within
So, if I understand correctly, Sarah Jane will recognise Rose from School Reunion, and K9 IV will have her in his memory banks from III… But since Rose is from an earlier time period, she won’t know either of them… Am I right?

Dang! The first sentence of my last comment was supposed to have XML-style “nitpick” tags around it, but the message board ate them.
I wanted to make it apparent that I knew I was being exessively picky, but I blew it. *sigh*
November 14th, 2007 at 1:31 pm
GO ACE!!! BLOW $#@& UP!!! STICK IT TO BLONDIE!!! I’ve watched Who since I was about 12, and 7 and Ace were my favorites.
This strip is awesome. The drawing style is exceptional. Reminds me a lot of Phil Foglio (Phil and Dixie RPG comics, and some other stuff he does, but I can’t remember right now).
November 14th, 2007 at 1:39 pm
AAARGH! You’re right, Saccharissa, I can’t believe I did that! Yes, “The Invisible Enemy”!
*smacks self*
“The Enemy Within” was the ’story’ title of the Fox film.
And also, y’know… a TOS Star Trek episode.
Thanks for the catch. Gotta change it.
November 14th, 2007 at 1:48 pm
This is so exciting!
I would say its *getting* exciting, but that started happening on page one and I fear I would be repeating myself… keep it up anyway!
I’m looking forward to catching up with all the Doctors, I loved it when they were all together at the beginning, I hope your planning on having another reunion, heh, ALL companions and ALL Doctors. Joy!
November 14th, 2007 at 2:13 pm
Not a critique, but I thought all the companions had their memories of the Five Doctors incident erased after they were sent home? In School Reunion, Ten tells SJ that he’s regenerated half a dozen times since they were last together, even though she’d met Five during that adventure. Not a big deal. Your comic is excellent, but I obsess about things like this. :p

I’m enjoying it but a little quibble if the Mongol hoards couldn’t get into to the Doctor’s TARDIS how come Ace was able to blow the doors off the Rani’s. Is the Rani’s a bit of botch job?
November 14th, 2007 at 2:45 pm
Vampadvocate: Maybe the doors aren’t as hard to break through from within.
November 14th, 2007 at 3:27 pm
who is romana pointing At
And How Will Sarah React to K9 Recognising Romana When Sarah Has Never Met Her
November 14th, 2007 at 4:18 pm
That’s true. Most of a TARDISs defences are on the outside. A sonic screwdriver won’t open a deadlock seal but that doesn’t mean some nitro-9 won’t.
I guess The Rani’s “state of grace” circuits aren’t working either.
November 14th, 2007 at 4:45 pm
Dave: re: The Companions memories.
I don’t remember anything about their memories being erased. I could be wrong. Jamie and Zoe’s memories were erased after “The War Games”, but the season 6b theory (that I’m employing here) states that they were returned.
Vampadvocate, Haura0 and DrkFire666: re:Nitro 9 vs the TARDIS.
It isn’t very clear, but Ace’s explosion only wrecked the doors of the room they were being kept in. Presumably Romana weakened the interior somehow, then they ran to the control room where Romana (or somebody) opened the main doors releasing the prisoners (and the smoke) from within.
Why didn’t the ‘State of grace” circuits work? Romana was taking a gamble, but the Rani’s got her own motivations for not using them. *whistles innocently*
bob:
Romana is giving Jo and the rest of “team 1″ instructions when K9 gets her attention.
November 14th, 2007 at 6:10 pm
Aha!!!
November 14th, 2007 at 7:32 pm
…is the Rani’s TARDIS disguised as a porta-potty? n.n;
November 14th, 2007 at 8:29 pm
bravo, clap clap clap clap, oh I am enjoying this, a sci fi nerds dream ! and the suspence and hints you keep dropping, ooh im all atingle with anticipation
love all the questions and comments people have been leaving too, and you explain them all away so skillfully rich!
porta-potty *smirk*
November 14th, 2007 at 9:11 pm
Heheh, not a porta-potty, no, EML…
I’m not sure what it is, an art-deco cabinet or something. Whatever it was, it was how it was disguised in “Mark of the Rani”.
November 14th, 2007 at 11:35 pm
Aww, Romana and K9. Reunited and it feels so good…
Though, I liked Leela and K9 the best. They were hilarious.
November 15th, 2007 at 6:59 am
Why do I have this sneaking suspicion that Sarah Jane is going to see the Fourth Doctor and up and slap him?
=P
November 15th, 2007 at 3:51 pm
I agree with Nikki. K9 and leela made the best team.
November 16th, 2007 at 3:12 am
Aww, K9 is so happy to see Romana!
November 16th, 2007 at 3:21 am
wow thanks, iv only just started reading these but there really good!
November 25th, 2007 at 2:17 am
Saccharissa says: “So, if I understand correctly, Sarah Jane will recognise Rose from School Reunion, and K9 IV will have her in his memory banks from III… But since Rose is from an earlier time period, she won’t know either of them… Am I right?”
I agree, with the exception of one point: Rose encountered K9 earlier in the Eye of Orion, with all the others. At the *very* least, her reaction could be “how’d he get *here*?”
April 11th, 2008 at 3:46 pm
i noticed a mistake in the explanation K9MKIII Said he was made in 1978 not 1981
