The 10 Doctors: page 52

The Daleks, delighted to have their confusion adressed with reasonable explainations that suit their unique view of the universe, settle down to some comforting obeying of orders. They just don’t realize it’s thier #1 enemy giving those orders. And some of those orders are just a tiny bit against their natures… but they’ll listen. For the time being.

Meanwhile the 6th Doctor leaps into the role with both feet.

I am adoring this comic! I discovered it last week and have reread it, like, six times just to savor the drawings (I like the sketchy look, it’s more expressive than a polished, clean look). And the plot is so nicely involved and action-y, it would keep my interest even if the artwork was much, much worse. Thank you for letting me see this.

  2. Evil Midnight Lurker Says:

*Nice* Tom grin there. And by “nice” I mean “fear-inducing.” :)

  3. dameruth Says:

I’m terrible about leaving comments, but this is just wonderful, and I’m delighted to see another page up so soon. Your ability to draw the characters’ expressions is marvelous — I love Four’s rather desperate, toothy grin above, and Nine’s irritated frown. Also love the way Six so naturally steps into playing his part . . . so perfect!

  4. Captain Shade Says:

A new update, every day, for 3 days in a row…Careful Rich, I could get used to this. ;)

  5. Nick Says:

For all their power, Daleks can be pretty dim sometimes. =D

  6. George Says:

I am really enjoying this! A LOT more than I enjoyed “The Three Doctors,” or “The Five Doctors,” or “The Two Doctors.” Very nice rendering, and the story is quite engaging.

  7. Vespertilio Says:

I usually avoid fanfic, but this is really excellent!
I’m really enjoying your work. :-D

  8. Sean Says:

Yes! Colin Baker steps in to save the day! I would’ve thought he would’ve teased them a little first, but he helped them out pretty good.

By the way, do 6 and 9 resent each other in any way? Those were some interesting looks they were giving each other.

  9. DrkFire666 Says:

OMG I LOVE 4’s face in the 5th panel. Hilarious!!! Poor 9.

  10. Liz Says:

The Liz at the top isn’t me, by the way.

Amazing page, Rich! I absolutely love the expressions! Though 9 wasn’t always so sullen…

  11. Gallifrey Says:

Yay…I haven’t checked back all week and then you spoil me with three episodes! Thank you. I love this - a lot!

  12. Fizzix Says:

This is going to turn into a Nine pity party! I don’t recall Six looking quite so sinister… evar. But I’m a tad limited in what I’ve seen of him. He’s creeping me out, and I can’t say what it is. Put out Four in panel… four is cute. I think what has Nine feeling quite as sulky — it might have something to do with preportions. I dunno what’s wrong with it, but… it just seems off.

It’s a great comic, and I’m glad you’re working on it, and it’ll be a sad day when this ends. (Untili you succumb to writing another, and then there’s a happy day.)

  13. Phantom Drummer Says:

Oh the looks on the Fourth Doctor’s face…priceless. And for some reason I really got a kick out of the “180 degree eye-stalk spin” of your Dalek in the third panel. Yes, poor Nine…”it” indeed. Oh he’ll lead the Daleks a merry dance, I’m sure.

  14. Liz Says:

Since when is 9 an ‘it’? I mean,i know 6 isn’t always the nicest guy, but honestly!

  15. Rich Says:

Liz - Since when is 9 an ‘it’?

Rich - The 6th Doctor is trying to pass 9 off as some kind of artificial construct created to confuse the enemies of the Daleks.

  16. joe england Says:

Eh. Sure, it sounds great to say that you’ve fooled Daleks into not killing you, contrary to their prime directives. But seriously. Only until every other person in the room starts talking about about the time they did the same thing. We’ve all seen how this works, right? For such a supposedly bloodthirsty race, the Daleks are incredibly hesitant to actually exterminate people face-to-face. How many times have they not exterminated someone just because they told them they shouldn’t? All you have to do is come up with a reason they should let you live. They’ll give you time to think about it, too. Hell, all you really have to do is keep talking. They’re polite enough not to kill you in mid-sentence.

    “EXTERMINATE!”
    “Wait! Um… um…”
    “…”
    “I, um… I… can be useful… to the Daleks!”
    “EXPLAIN!”
    “Okay, I… um. God. I can…”
    “…”
    “I can… aid the… Dalek race… by… testing… your…”
    “…”
    “Um… defenses…?”
“…THIS ONE RAISES INTRIGUING POSSIBILITIES AND MUST BE KEPT ALIVE INDEFINITELY. FOLLOW ME TO OUR CENTER OF OPERATIONS, YOU ARE TO MEET THE EMPEROR!!”

  17. Rich Says:

    Hahahahahh!
    Toche!
But the show wouldn’t have been as successful if it went like this:

“YOU ARE THE DOCTOR! YOU ARE AN ENEMY OF THE DALEKS! YOU MUST BE EXTERMINATED!”
    “Wait, you can’t–”
    RRAAAAAAAZZZZZZ!!!
*a think whisp of smoke where our hero, the titular character of the show, once stood*
“WELL. THAT WASN’T NEARLY AS FULFILLING AS I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE.”

    “NOW WHAT?”

    etc.

  18. Hermes Says:

Those two panels of 4th were pure art, and pure Tom Baker. Excellent stuff!

  19. dragon64 Says:

Kee, hee, hee. Yes, a good thing those Daleks aren’t too bright then! Whew!
Wow, another update. You’re pretty amazing! This is definitely helping me get through these Doctor Who-less days ‘till the next season. :)
Ah, Four. Just grin at them and it’ll all be all right! What kind of a cold-hearted Dalek would exterminate that big, toothy smile? ;)
    Please be careful Six…

  20. smallfish Says:

love the story only problem being I’m amazed the ninth doctor has keeped his cool when confronting darleks I always liked to think of him as the slightly unhinged one losing it whenever he confronts his arch nemesis apart for that flawless

  21. Nikkita Says:

Fan-blimmin-tastic ! that what it is. Six shines yet again!

  22. Ilana Says:

    …I love you, Six.

    And Four’s expressions are lovely~

  23. Liz Says:

Rich - The 6th Doctor is trying to pass 9 off as some kind of artificial construct created to confuse the enemies of the Daleks.

No I know that, I just thought it was funny…the look on 9’s face! Great job.

  24. Kurt Lewis Says:

I wonder if the imperials have captured 2 and 7 or the Emperors

  25. Rich Says:

    Imperials vs Emperors?
Again, not sure what you mean, but I’ll explain who’s where:

The 4th, 6th and 9th Doctors have been captured by the black (& multicoloured) Daleks, representing the original strain of Daleks seen in the show from 1963 - 1986 and referred to as the “renegade Daleks” in “Remembrance of the Daleks”.

The 2nd and 7th Doctors have been caught by the new, white & gold Daleks seen as the dominant or self-proclaimed Imperial Daleks in “Remembrance ofthe Daleks” .

At some point these two races seem to have homogonized again before “The Last Great Time War” or one has wiped out the other. When they show up again as survivors, they’re all sort of a dark gold and use multicoloured shells again to indicate rank. (We don’t see the ones in the Fox film, but they live on a planet called Skaro).

Presumably we’re meant to ignore the fact that they’re different from the originals (as we are always expected to do with the Cybermen), so they could really be ‘decended’ from either of these two warring factions. Or a new ‘race’ that rose from the two. Who knows?

  26. Josiah Rowe Says:

Wonderful Tom timing and expressions in the third tier!

  27. Kitty Says:

Lol, I was half expecting between panels 5 and 6 for the Doctor to pull out a paper bag and offer the Dalek a Jelly Baby!

  28. BadWolf Says:

I love the expression on Four’s face when six is talking… kinda like “arrogant *swear word here*”
Ahhh… your knack with facial expressions is amazing. I wish I could improve on my art work… my stick figures are always rather pathetic…

  29. Julia Says:

I hug this comic with unbounded glee. The art is delightful, and the facial expressions are just *phenomenal*. So lively! The Doctors are all so adorably, brilliantly illustrated, and it has to be a beast giving them all appropriate screentime, not to mention their relationships with each other. But you do it so well! And the Companions are awesome, too. I love seeing Romana take charge, and Rose freak out, and Jamie and Turlough and…well. You get the idea. Anyway, it’s charming and wonderful and suspenseful and it reads like a Doctor Who story. I’m having tremendous fun. Thank you for all your work!

  30. Levanta Tyler Says:

Why does everyone hate 9? Everyone thinks he look like a serial killer. I’m writing him a special script with some nice Ailaean girl. Not that way, but he gets a new friend and Ailaeans are anime-looking and like to hug people. So all of you who are saying *hugs 9*, this script will have this…coming 2013.

  31. Levanta Tyler Says:

    LOL Midnight:)

And maybe it’s more like 6/07/08

  32. Jack Says:

Is it just me or does 4 remind you a bit like Wallace, from Wallace and Gromit? lol

    great story!!!

  33. me, myself Says:

HaHaHaHa ha aha ha. he he he.
When does the ninth doctor get to kick something or blow something up?
By the way. I looked up pictures of the sixth doctor since I don’t know that much about him, and he was really sorta cute…in a volatile way
