AWESOME! …But wait, shouldn’t Ten and Nine’s TARDISes still be functioning?
March 25th, 2007 at 10:28 pm
Hehehe, yup.
But none of the others stuck around long enough to hear that part. You’ll notice 9 and 10 stuck around and were pretty calm about it all, too.

Say, did you know that in the 1980s preliminary work was done on an animated version of Doctor Who by Nelvana? It never got off the ground, but the art is fascinating. It was partially inspired by the work of Moebius, kind of like Ghostbusters meets The Real Ghostbusters meets Heavy Metal meets… well, Doctor Who. Models were drawn up for new Doctors and a new TARDIS and new characters and even a new K9. You can check it out at http://www.cbc.ca/planetofthedoctor/tb_gallery.html - that is, if you didn’t know already. There’s a video which details it all at http://www.cbc.ca/planetofthedoctor/ - part 6.

Yeah, actually, I had just graduated from Sheridan college in Classical Animation when it was being proposed. When I heard I got pretty excited and started putting my portfolio tegether, but when I saw the designs and read the storyboards, I was quite miffed. I still have copies of the designs somewhere.
I mean, c’mon… Egon Spengler Doctor? What the hell was K9? A floading platform with a tv screen face? And the TARDIS was zipping through a computer? Someone missed the boat on that one. I did my own designs for the Doctor at the time, but anyway, I never got around to applying there and it never came into being.
I did like their cybermen, though…
Thanks for the link!

Hmm..
Actually, flipping through these designs I DIDN’T see is pretty cool.
March 26th, 2007 at 11:05 pm
What can I say? Egon was always one of my favorite Ghostbusters. And I liked the Heavy Metal sensibility. The question-mark motif was handled pretty well, and the TARDIS looked cool all industrial like that. If you have your own designs of the Doctor, though, that might be interesting to see sometime.

Hehehehe, I could fill a tome with desigs and variations of Doctors and other Time Lords I’ve designed over the years. But I’ll see if I can dig a few up.
March 30th, 2007 at 4:49 am
Think that’s interesting…How about this link…http://news.bbc.co.uk/cbbcnews/hi/newsid_6300000/newsid_6303400/6303465.stm…Hope it works

*Is skeptical*
Yeah, people got all excited about “The Scream of the Shalkra” too. Utter turd. We’ll see. It’s looks very FLASH-y in design.

If I may say, you’ve nailed all of the Doctors splendidly, but Four is especially perfect. I think it’s the nose. ^_^
Anyway, bravo! Eagerly awaiting the rest! (What happening to poor Eight??)
March 30th, 2007 at 4:49 pm
Thank you, #4 is my personal favorite!
I have to try to make sure he doesn’t wind up taking over the whole strip! He’s the most fun to draw
As for 8, I wanted him to have a major part in the story. He’s an official incarnation, but got short changed with just one solitary story.

Hear, hear!

Well one televised story. Do you follow the BBC7 and Big Finish Audio adventures with Paul Mcgann? Phenomenal performances. But I guess hoping for a Charley Pollard appearance would be too much.
April 5th, 2007 at 1:32 am
Yeah, sorry. Didn’t keep up with them. I’m very glad Paul McGann got some more airtime as the Doctor, even if it was just audio, but I haven’t heard them all. Haven’t had time. Nor could I be arsed to pay for the downloads.
If they all become free somewhere, or if you could point me to them or even send ‘em over somehow, I’ll happily iPod them and listen to them at work. Might make it possible for me to accept the cannonness of them. But I’m always leery of including things that aren’t strictly televised unless I’m really familiar with it. Or if, y’know, I hate it. Like some of the comics and the New Adventures novels, of the few I read, most SUCKED.
April 5th, 2007 at 1:44 am
As a further note, I think it important that one medium not rely at all on another.
I don’t like to go to a movie that makes no sense to me unless I’ve read the comic first. Or a sequel to something that makes no sense because two novels, a comic strip, a collection of short stories and two seasons of a TV series connect them. I hate that. The televised Doctor Who must stand on its own for the most part.
One has to assume that the writers of the current seasons haven’t seen ALL of the classic episodes, let alone read the short stories in the Marvel Doctor Who magazine or listened to all the audio adventures put out in the Big Finish series. I know the Producers have hinted at this stuff being part of the story, and they’ve done a wonderful job of including references to the old classic stuff, but until they actually show Romana 2 or talk about these adventures, it’s just alternate adventure stuff.

Fair enough!
April 12th, 2007 at 2:47 pm
I am Loving this! 4,8 and 10 are my faves, so true about 8 not getting enough screen time. Have you seen shada?(not the tv version the cartoonish one) Written by douglas adams and starring 8 and Romana. I highly recomend it.

April 12th, 2007 at 5:20 pm
I have. Well, not ALL of it, but I watched parts of it. I have the incomplete original version here as well, so once they started doing Douglas Adam’s script, I knew it well. I quite like the way they worked the new Doctor and Romana into it together. Ties it in nicely with The Five Doctors, too.

Peace people
We love you

‘not to be immodest’… Four is SO egotistical.
…make a new Eye of Harmony…. that doesn’t sound good… wait, didn’t Omega get himself killed doing that?
November 5th, 2007 at 1:38 am
You know, I never noticed before, but aren’t Seven and Two impossibly shorter than everyone else?…
…fanTAStic!
November 18th, 2007 at 3:40 pm
LOL, Four and Nine have the same grin…fanTAStic!

“Reverse the polarity of the neutron flow” reference, PERFECT!
November 26th, 2007 at 10:40 pm
Nice use of the fanTAStic thing. I think you’ve got all the different Doctor’s little idiosyncrasies, and those of the compainions as well. You seem to include each character fairly, both things which can be difficult to do with stories which have these many characters. I love your drawing style, too! I think it looks better in black and white for some reason unknown to me, judging by the two colored ones.
Oh, and I’m re reading this whole thing, ’cause I love it. Thank you for making this!
March 2nd, 2008 at 10:07 am
Perfect with the personalities! Agreed, Kara, well said!
April 11th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
I will quot the 9th FANTASTIC!! how do they know witch TARDIS is there own and not another Doctor’s? just wondering
April 25th, 2008 at 9:06 am
they’re mentally/psychically attached to their Tardis i think. that’s probably how they identify their Tardis’

Yes, I am a little late to the party, but wanted to say this is great. Heeheehee, I love your characterization of #4. He is so my favorite!
