The 10 Doctors: page 11

Meanwhile, the 8th Doctor (some time after The Enemy Within - aka The Fox Movie) has gone to his home planet, Gallifrey, onstensibly to have his TARDIS checked over by the real experts, but also to catch up with the latest President of the High Council. She, however, knows the Doctor all to well… -by reputation, apparently- and predicts his next words.

Creator’s note: The Lady President here is the first completely original character in this comic. She’s not based on anyone from the series. This is taking place during 8th Doctor’s lifespan which was never televised (and for simplicity’s sake, I’m not using any novels or comics or short stories or anything else as my source material….except the novelization of the Fox film which fits the Doctor Who canon a little better) and so there is no reference for what went on at this time. So I’ve given myself a lot of leeway.

All right. But I think it’s supposed to be Romana who’s president of Gallifrey during the Eight Doctor’s incarnation. But it’s not important!

Yes, I know. As far as I can tell, someone put that idea together simply so that Lalla Ward could play Romana in the Shada remake in Big Finish and then they went on to make the further adventures of president Romana and Leela. Or maybe it was the other way around. However, since I’m using only the televised adventures as my source material, this is not stated or even referred to. And since we have no idea how she got there from E-Space where the Doctor left her, this seems unlikely to me. Add the amount of time that seems to have passed since Leela and Romana’s time with the Doctor, I’m doubting Leela -an Earth Human decendant- would have lived long enough to have these adventures. There is, of course, every possibility that my cartoon President is Romana in a 3rd or even later incarnation.
I just didn’t want to have to deal with the problem of having Romana 2 both traveling with #4 and being president of Gallifrey. So, until it’s stated or shown on the television series, I choose to ignore the whole President Romana thing.

Don’t get me wrong, I really liked the Shada remake. Thought it was brilliant and loved hearing #8 interacting with Romana 2. But I just didn’t want to deal with it in my comic.

For similar reasons, I pass on the existance of Bernice Summerfield as a companion of #7, or that of a transmorphing penguin as a companion to #6.

I am keeping the theory of the “untelevised season 6b” for #2, because there’s simply no other explanation for certain aspects of his appearance in later episodes. And I happen to like it.

You’ll rue the day you ignored Frobisher!

    Hahahahahhaha!
    Maybe! Maybe indeed!

Hi, Yeah About The Romana Thing She Was Kicked Off The Council After The Time War
Don’t Know Why Or How Just Know She Was

Actually, the idea of Romana as President of the Time Lords comes from the novels. She returned from E-Space in the New Adventure “Blood Harvest” by Terrance Dicks, and had become Lady President by “Happy Endings” by Paul Cornell. The Eighth Doctor Adventures also included Romana as President long before Big Finish did their version of Shada.

(By the way, I’m loving the comic!)
